Approved trucks shall bear a label indicating approval by the testing lab. 1910.178(q)(7) - Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service. Such examination shall be made at least daily. |
1910.179(k)(1)(i) -
Operational tests. - Prior to initial use all new & altered cranes shall be tested. 1910.179(k)(2) - Rated load test. - Test loads shall not be more than 125% of rated load, unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer. |

1910.180 (b)(1) - The
requirements of this section are applicable only to machines when used as lifting cranes. 1910.180(e) Testing. (1) Operation Tests - In addition to prototype tests each new crane shall be tested by the mfg. to insure compliance. Certified production-crane test results shall be made available. (2) Rated Load Test - Test loads shall not exceed 110% of the rated load at any selected working radius. Where rerating is necessary: crawler, truck & wheel mounted cranes to be tested in accordance with SAE recommended practice, crane load stability test code J765 (Apr 1961). |

1926.553(a) (4) All base-mounted drum hoists in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, construction, installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and operations, as prescribed by the manufacturer. 1926.554(a) (6) All overhead hoists in use shall meet the applicable requirements for construction, design, installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and operation, as prescribed by the manufacturer. |
1926.550(a) (6) A thorough, annual inspection of the hoisting machinery shall be made by a competent person, or by a government or private agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. The employer shall maintain a record of the dates and results of inspections for each hoisting machine and piece of equipment. 1926.550(b) (2) All crawler, truck, or locomotive cranes in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, inspection, construction, testing, maintenance and operation as prescribed in the ANSI B30.5-1968, Safety Code for Crawler, Locomotive and Truck Cranes. 1926.550(d) (4) All overhead and gantry cranes in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, construction, installation, testing, maintenance, inspection, and operation as prescribed in the ANSI B30.2.0-1967, Safety Code for Overhead and Gantry Cranes. 1926.550(e) All derricks in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, construction, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and operation as prescribed in American National Standards Institute B30.6-1969, Safety Code for Derricks. |

1926.550(f) Floating cranes
& Derricks (1) Mobile Cranes Mounted on Barges (i) When a mobile crane is mounted on a barge, the rated load of the crane shall not exceed the original capacity specified by the manufacturer. (iii) When rated loads are reduced to stay within limits for list of the barge with a crane mounted on it, a new load rating chart shall be provided. (2) Permanently Mounted Floating Cranes & Derricks (i) Crane & derrick limitations & capacities of use shall be based on competent design criteria. (iii) Floating cranes and floating derricks in use shall meet the applicable requirements for design, construction, installation, testing, maintenance, and operation as prescribed by the manufacturer. |

107.259(a) - Each crane must
be inspected & tested in accordance with API RP2D, Section 3, except that the rated
load test must be performed in accordance with 107.260. 107.260(a) - Rated load test @ both max. & min. boom angles every 5 years. (See USCG letter Sept. 6, 1990)
Note: Tons are short tons of 2000 pounds in accordance with API RP 2D as specified by USCG 107.259(a) for USCG 107.260(a). |
